Incidences Of Drunk Driving
Drunk driving is when someone who has more taken alcohol than is specified drives while drunk. In most incidences, this act is contrary to the law and therefore it is a crime. When drunk driving occurs, more often than not, accidents happen as a result. People may end up dead or state property and even individual property gets damaged because of those accidents.
Many at times drunk driving happens is often at night, during weekends and holiday periods. These are the times most people are free and see it fit to unwind from their daily occupations. Since these are the peak times of drunk driving, as a result, these are the times most accidents occur. Drivers and other victims may be maimed or die in some of these accidents.
Accidents due to drinking and driving come by easily. This is because when a person is drunk, they lose so much of their mental capacity and end up behaving irresponsibly. Over speeding, ignoring of road signs that indicate things such as bumps are the traffic offenses caused by drunk driving.
There is so much publicity that has been done to reduce cases of drunk driving. Some taxi companies market their brands by having responsible usage of roads as their main agendas, but despite all that, drunk driving still happens as usual. These cases can be reduced when taxi drivers are strategically placed outside drinking spots so that a drunk person may have an alternative causing damage to themselves as well as of other road users. In cases where drivers go to drink with their cars, then it may be hard for them to take a cab and leave their vehicles behind and for this reason, they drive while drunk. There can be a case where a driver spends all their money on the alcohol and end up with no money for the cab. It is always a trend to people who own cars to drive after drinking
Another way of preventing the drunk driving is when traffic police become more cautious during the peak times. This mostly works because the penalties out in place are tough on the crime, it being an offense against the country’s law. Huge fines may be imposed on the crime and/or jail term if the offense resulted in fatalities or property destruction. The offensive driver has the possibility of losing their driving license.
Many bad things happen to the parties that get involved in a drunk driving case. People will never stop taking alcohol meaning drunk driving can never stop as well. The best alternative would be to stiffen the penalties for drunk driving. A weight is on people to gather the lessons learnt from the results of drunk driving and bring changes to generations to come. Children should be taught from their young age the repercussions of drunk driving and that they may grow up having that knowledge. In this way, changes to the next generation is achieved then drunk driving can be a thing of the past
